Drop Out
Let the players dribble around in the circle (Variant: let them do different warming-up exercises). There’s no active SmartGoal. While dribbling they have to be aware of the SmartGoal that will light up. When a SmartGoal lights up, the players have to compete who reaches the SmartGoal first. The first person who reaches the activated SmartGoal leaves the game and is ”save”. The game ends when there is only 1 person left in the game. | Skill: dribbling, awareness, reaction speed, acceleration | Coach on: stand on front feet, focus, executing possible exercises | Physical load: calfs, hamstrings, quadriceps |
Keeper Footwork & Kicking Skills
The SmartGoals are placed around the goal in a circle. The goalkeeper has to anticipate to the incoming ball. He/she has to process the ball by passing it through on of the illuminating SmartGoals. A possible variant on this exercise is to alternate the passing with saving. | Skill: passing, awareness | Coach on: attentiveness, execution | Physical: buttock muscles, calfs |
Dynamic Receive Circle
Behind each SmartGoal there is 1 player with a ball. When a SmartGoal is illuminating, the player behind that activated goal has to pass through the SmartGoal to the player in the center. The player that passed the ball has to go to the center and the player that received the ball has to run (with the ball) to the spot of the passing player. | Skill: passing, dribbling | Coach on: intensity, ball speed, dribbling speed | Physical: lower extremity |
Connection Exercise
This exercise involves an offensive and a defensive team. One of the attacking players has to receive the ball through the activated SmartGoal and starts the attack on goal. His/her defender has to run through the newly illuminating SmartGoal, before he/she may start his/her defending. | Skill: agility, ball control, cooperation, positional play | Coach on: movement (without ball), forward runs, positioning defense | Physical: lower extremity |
Midfield Receive
Two midfielders are standing in the middle of the field. The first player (on the side) has to pass the ball to the midfielder. This midfielder turns and dribbles through the illuminated SmartGoal. After that, he/she passes the ball to the player on the other side. The other midfielder has to run through the newly illuminated SmartGoal before receiving it from the player on the side. He does the same as what the other midfielder did before, only towards the other side. | Skill: dribbling, first touch, passing | Coach on: ball speed, communication, execution | Physical: lower extremity |
Pass Exercise
The Pass Exercise is a high intensity exercise that’s letting players switch between passing and running constantly. When a player receives a ball, he/she runs with the ball through the illuminated SmartGoal. After she passed the SmartGoal she passes the ball to his/her teammate across the field. | Skill: acceleration with ball, dribbling, passing | Coach on: intensity, execution | Physical: lower extremity |
Turning Tornado
The player starts from the center of the circle. He/she has to run through the illuminated SmartGoals. Each time the player completes a SmartGoal, he/she returns to the base pawn in the middle and taps the pawn. | Skill: agility, awareness | Coach on: intensity, motivation to be as quick as possible | Physical load: hamstrings, quadriceps, calfs |

Player 1 starts running deep in the direction the illuminated SmartGoal guides him/her, towards the goal. Player 1 has to pass the ball deep. Now player 2 in in position to score. | Skill: positional play, passing, acceleration, finishing | Coach on: intensity, ball speed, first touch | Physical load: hamstrings, quadriceps, buttock muscles |
The Accelerator

After one player ran through four activated SmartGoals, the next player has to take over. So the players start one after another. | Skill: dribble (ball control), awareness, reaction speed | Coach on: intensity, execution | Physical load: calfs, hamstrings, quadriceps |
Lightning Shuffle
This exercise is similar to “The SmartGoal Ladder”, only in this exercise the distance between the SmartGoals is bigger. The SmartGoals have to be placed in a line (like a ladder). The players have to run through the illuminated SmartGoals 5 times. When a player completed 5 SmartGoals, the next player in line starts. | Skill: agility, acceleration, awareness | Coach on: intensity | Physical load: quadriceps, calfs, buttock muscles |
